On 18 October, a joint statement by the Syrian Ministry of Health, UNICEF, WHO, and other partners urged all humanitarian actors involved in the response from Lebanon to Syria to prioritize the feeding and care of infants, young children, and caregivers, including pregnant and breastfeeding women. This is critical to prevent malnutrition, illness, and death. The rate of new arrivals at the Syrian borders has stabilized but is lower than the initial influx, with over 400,000 people crossing since 23 October. As of 18 October, over 5,000 new arrivals, mostly women and children, are being housed in hosting centers across several regions, with UN agencies providing vital assistance. More than 18,000 people have been reached through community centers and outreach efforts, offering services and information. In response to a rise in crossings during the evening, UNHCR began night operations at the Jdaidet Yabous crossing to assist new arrivals.
